I was in my 2nd year teaching and coaching at Elkhart Central Highschool, when I just felt this tugging to 'do more' for Jesus. I was growing exponentially in my faith and I just could not tell my students and players how my life was transformed. I left teaching end of May in 2007. In the fall, I attended two separate retreats. I will never forget the night in the Chapel where I just cried out to God. I couldn't wrap my brain around being called as a spokesperson for Jesus. I had made too many mistakes, committed too many sins. God couldn't use me. I felt the Lord speak to me. He then spoke to me through the Bible.
1 Timothy 1:12-17 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve him, 13 even though I used to blaspheme the name of Christ. In my insolence, I persecuted his people. But God had mercy on me because I did it in ignorance and unbelief. 14 Oh, how generous and gracious our Lord was! He filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus.
15 This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all. 16 But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life. 17 All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen.
It was in that moment, that I told my Father, I will serve Him in whatever capacity He wants. I began sharing wherever I was asked - at schools (with Reason 4 Hope's HOPE for Youth programming), at churches and at youth groups and conferences.
Here is a suite of messages I have been asked to speak on:
